Fundraising and Sponsorship Goals & Opportunities

Projects envisioned for the Garden for which fundraising and sponsorship is necessary to provide support and resources include:

  • Creating pathways among garden plots through removing sod and replacing with sustainable pathway materials.
  • Creating a raised perimeter around the garden to identify the Garden as a distinct area, to enhance security, and to make our Garden a showcase for Calgary South.
  • Build a gazebo in our Garden meeting area to provide an area for gardeners to enjoy and for Garden events and activities.
  • Acquire a garden shed for storage of garden tools and materials.
  • Increase gardener engagement through awarding door prizes ,and gifts for volunteers or special visitors.
**VANDALISM DETERRENTS**
  1. Install lighting for the garden, motion sensored so visitors are seen by passing traffic.
  2. Video surveillance camera to record theft/destruction in action.
  3. Video surveillance signage reminding visitors they are being watched
  4. signage claiming and explaining the garden, its culture and community.
The Fundraising and Sponsorship Team includes the following roles:
  • Grant writer - Research and apply for grants
  • Sponsorship coordinator - Provide a list of businesses in the communities to which garden members are assigned to contact for either money or “gifts in kind”.
  • Employer campaign coordinator – prepare materials for gardeners to seek contributions from their employers
  • Event coordinator – plan and organize fundraising events e.g. bake sales, silent auctions, seed and potato sales etc.
  • Fundraising Publicist to develop messages and materials to support team initiatives
  • Donor Recognition coordinator - thank and recognize donors and profile sponsors in value-added ways to continue to grow Garden supporters.
